What is pillow face?

Pillow face is a term used to describe the appearance of a person's face after sleeping with their face pressed against a pillow for an extended period of time. This prolonged pressure can cause temporary indentations and creases in the skin, especially around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth.

Pillow face can be exacerbated by sleeping on a pillow with a rough or textured surface, or by sleeping in the same position night after night. Over time, repeated pressure on the skin can contribute to the development of wrinkles and fine lines.

To help prevent pillow face, it is recommended to sleep on a smooth, silk or satin pillowcase which creates less friction on the skin. Additionally, changing positions throughout the night and using a supportive pillow that helps distribute weight evenly can also help reduce the likelihood of developing pillow face.

Some people may also opt for facial exercises or treatments like dermal fillers to help minimize the appearance of pillow face and promote a more youthful appearance.
